Teleradiology Cost
One of the leading benefits of using teleradiology is financial. Teleradiology by its very nature is an efficient and high quality manner by which patient images can be interpreted and diagnosed by qualified specialists. When utilized properly, a radiologists down time is minimized, allowing for cost effective and timely interpretations. Teleradiology costs are based on the modality of the study (CT, MR, PET, etc.) and the expected report turn-around time. Teleradiology market
Approximately 800 million radiologic procedures were performed in the India in 2010, a highly significant increase since 2000 when approximately 200 million procedures were performed. There are an estimated 8,000 CT scanners and 5,000 MRI scanners in India. It is estimated that there are 6,000 imaging centers in India and a similar number of hospitals where these procedures are performed. The annual increase in the number of radiologists is in the 3.5% to 5% range compared to a 10% to 12% growth in the volume of imaging studies performed. There is a shortage of radiologists which is not easing. The shortage of well-qualified subspecialists is especially acute. This has created delays in turnaround time for many imaging centers.
Here, at NEXTRAD, we have a well-qualified team of radiologists who have extensive experience covering all aspects of radiology and teleradiology.
Teleradiology benefits:
- Reduced cost - Radiology expenses are converted from fixed to variable costs. Efficiency is significantly increased.
- Expertise - Ability to access subspecialty radiology experts when needed via teleradiology.
- Increased coverage - Coverage for less desirable work shifts is provided through teleradiology for less than the cost of having a group member read cases during nights and weekends.Teleradiology "fractional staffing" is ideal as it allows for the most qualified specialist to be available on a per report basis versus full time salary.
